Rick and Janet have been collaborating together as a glass blowing team for more than thirty years in their California Studio. Their stunning use of both vibrant and subtle color, their deliberate blending process of swirling opaque and transparent colors together to create new colors & tones, and their painterly approach to color is a hallmark of their blown Art Glass.

A love of nature, the ocean, and a background in clay design influence the colors they create – evoking feelings of harmony and serenity in shades of steel blue and cobalt blue, pine, browns with a hint of coral and gold topaz, amethyst, ruby, and brighter red.

Following his university education, Rick Nicholson operated a pottery studio full time in southern California from 1974 to 1981. Janet, a graduate of Brooks Institute of Photography, left her photography job in 1979 to freelance and create designs on Rick’s clay forms. They were married the same year, and their artistic partnership began.

Their work involves blown glass vases and free form flat and bowl shapes, figurative sculpture, sculptural lighting, multiple piece wall and ceiling installations and awards. Many works have been commissioned for hotels and private residences internationally.
